Biocera vs BioPlus: Alkaline Filter or Water Ionizer Machine?

By Sanchit Jain, RO technician and owner of Sanchit Enterprises, Roorkee (since 2014). Updated October 2026.

Biocera vs BioPlus is a comparison between two different kinds of product. BIOCERA, a Korean company, makes non-electric alkaline filters that use mineral ceramic balls, usually fitted after an RO purifier. BioPlus, an Indian manufacturer based in Gujarat, makes electric alkaline water ionizer machines that use electrolysis. Both aim to give you alkaline water, but they work, cost and need care very differently.

We install and service alkaline water systems in Roorkee and Haridwar. Sanchit Enterprises is not affiliated with either company, so this is an independent view.

Biocera vs BioPlus alkaline water comparison by Sanchit Enterprises
One is a non-electric filter, the other an electric ionizer. They solve the same wish in different ways.

What BIOCERA makes

BIOCERA is known for its ceramic ball technology. According to biocera.com, its range includes the A.A. Water Filter, an inline or drop-in cartridge that adds calcium, magnesium and potassium back to RO water and raises the pH, and the A.H.A Water Purifier, a non-electric post-RO unit with a carbon block and ceramic balls. It also sells alkaline jugs, bottles and shower filters.

BIOCERA states its alkaline filters return water to around pH 7.5 to 9.5, and lists NSF/ANSI certifications for its ceramic media. It does not list an electric ionizer machine.

What BioPlus makes

BioPlus, the brand of BioTech Industries in Ahmedabad, describes itself on biopluswater.in as a manufacturer of alkaline water machines, hydrogen water products and alkaline filters, with over 12 years in the business. Its range includes the IonGen alkaline water ionizer, a light commercial ionizer and hydrogen water generators.

An electric ionizer filters the water, then passes it over coated plates in an electrolysis chamber, giving an alkaline stream for drinking and an acidic stream for cleaning, with pH levels you choose by button.

Biocera vs BioPlus: side by side

  • Power: Biocera filters need no electricity. A BioPlus ionizer plugs in.
  • pH control: a Biocera filter gives one fixed rise in pH. An ionizer lets you pick the level.
  • Cost: a ceramic filter costs far less up front. An ionizer is a bigger purchase.

And on upkeep:

  • Maintenance: Biocera cartridges are replaced when exhausted. An ionizer needs filter changes and periodic plate descaling.
  • Hard water: neither removes dissolved salts. High-TDS water needs an RO first in both cases.

Which should you choose?

If you already have an RO and simply want alkaline water at low cost, a post-RO ceramic alkaline filter of the Biocera type is the easy upgrade. If you want adjustable pH, a separate acidic stream for cleaning, and are ready for a bigger purchase and regular plate care, an electric ionizer of the BioPlus type suits you better.

Around Roorkee, where many homes use hard borewell water, either choice works best with RO pre-treatment. We test your water first. See alkaline water ionizer in Roorkee for demos, installation and service.

A note on health claims

Both kinds of product are often sold with health promises. According to the Mayo Clinic, research does not support most of them. Choose on taste, convenience and running cost. People with kidney disease should ask their doctor before switching to alkaline water. When you weigh Biocera vs BioPlus, ignore the miracle claims and compare what each product actually does.

Biocera vs BioPlus: frequently asked questions

Does Biocera make an ionizer machine?

Its listed range is non-electric: ceramic alkaline filters, a post-RO purifier, jugs, bottles and shower filters. It does not list an electric ionizer.

Is BioPlus an Indian company?

Yes. BioPlus is the brand of BioTech Industries, based in Kathwada GIDC, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Can I use an ionizer without RO?

Only if your water TDS is low. High-TDS water needs RO pre-treatment, and hard water scales ionizer plates faster.

Do you install and service alkaline systems?

Yes, in Roorkee and Haridwar, after a free water test.
