1. Electric alkaline water ionizer
Water first passes through a filter, then through an electrolysis chamber with coated plates. The machine splits it into an alkaline stream for drinking and an acidic stream for cleaning, and you choose the pH level with buttons. More plates usually means more output at a given setting. These are the most expensive option and need the plates descaled from time to time.
2. Alkaline RO purifier
An RO purifier with an alkaline or mineral cartridge after the membrane. It removes dissolved salts first, then adds minerals and raises the pH. For high-TDS borewell water around Roorkee this is often the most practical choice.
3. Non-electric alkaline filter
A cartridge filled with mineral ceramic balls, fitted after an RO or used in a jug or bottle. It raises the pH as water passes through, without electricity, and is the lowest-cost way to get alkaline water.

An honest word on health claims
