RO Shifting in Roorkee: Moving Your Purifier to a New House

By Sanchit Jain, RO technician and owner of Sanchit Enterprises, Roorkee (since 2014). Updated October 2026.

RO shifting in Roorkee is a common job for us whenever families move to a new flat, a new colony or a rented house. A water purifier is easy to damage in a move: pipes crack, fittings leak, and a membrane left wet in a sealed box can grow bacteria. Done properly, it takes an hour or so at each end.

Here is how a safe move works, whether you do part of it yourself or book a technician.

RO shifting in Roorkee by Sanchit Enterprises
A careful move keeps your purifier leak-free in the new home.

Before the move: uninstall properly

  • Close the inlet valve and switch off and unplug the purifier.
  • Drain the storage tank fully.
  • Remove the inlet, drain and tap pipes, and cap or tape the open ports.
  • Keep the wall bracket screws and the inlet valve in a labelled bag.

Do not pull pipes out of push-fit connectors by force. Press the collet and release them gently, or they will leak later.

During the move: pack it upright

Move the purifier upright, wrapped in a blanket or the original box, and keep it away from heavy furniture in the vehicle. Do not leave it in a hot vehicle or a sealed box for days. If the move will take more than a couple of days, ask a technician about storing the membrane correctly.

Real job: RO installed at a new home in Awas Vikas, Roorkee.

At the new home: reinstall and check the water

The new house may have different water. A flat on municipal supply and a house on a borewell can have very different TDS, so the TDS controller often needs resetting. We also check supply pressure, because a top-floor flat may need a booster pump and a ground-floor borewell connection may need a pressure reducer.

After reinstalling, flush the purifier for one or two tank-fills before drinking, and check every joint for drips. See RO installation in Roorkee.

6 steps of RO shifting in Roorkee

  1. Uninstall, drain and cap the lines.
  2. Pack the unit upright and dry.
  3. Fit the bracket and inlet valve at the new home.

Then, at the new home:

  1. Reconnect inlet, drain and tap.
  2. Test TDS and set the controller for the new water.
  3. Flush, check for leaks and change any filter that is due.

If your filters are close to their change date, a move is a good time to replace them; see how often to change RO filter.

Do it yourself or book RO shifting in Roorkee?

Uninstalling and packing is something many people can manage. Reinstallation is where problems start: a wrong pipe size, a loose fitting or an unset TDS controller. We handle RO shifting in Roorkee for all major brands, usually the same day, and can uninstall at the old address and reinstall at the new one. The goal is water that still meets the BIS IS 10500 standard after the move.

RO shifting in Roorkee: frequently asked questions

Can I shift my RO myself?

Do I need new filters after moving?

Not always. Change them only if they are due or if the new water is much dirtier.

Will my RO work with the new house water?

Usually yes, but the TDS controller may need resetting and low-pressure homes may need a booster pump.
